Students
will learn the different parts of the paddle, some of the strokes used in
canoeing.They will work with a
partner in a canoe following an instructor. Trust activities will also be used to demonstrate the
effectiveness of canoes as a raft.
|
Developing
movement capabilities by increasing their movement skills, and selecting and
using appropriate equipment, through enjoyable involvement in a variety of
situations (eg yard games, modified sports, general gymnastics, dance,
aquatics, and virtual, outdoor and adventure activities) ID. KC 7
|
Sharing
equipment and working cooperatively with others in pairs or small groups or
teams to make the transition from basic movement abilities to the specialised
movement skills associated with sports, dance, gymnastics, aquatics,
recreational pursuits and challenging outdoor activities KC4
|
Develop
a range of aquatic and survival skills that will enable them to continue to
enjoy safe use of the water as a recreational and potential employment
environment.
|
|
Students
will learn to trust in the safety of the equipment being used.Overcoming fear of heights and lack
of confidence can be a benefit in this activity. Students will feel a sense of achievement at being able to
complete a climb.
|
Developing
and refining movements that combine the three basic skill categories of
stability, locomotion and manipulation for successful ongoing participation
in physical activities. (locomotion skills relocate them in space on, in,
around or off equipment (eg running, wheeling, jumping, sliding, leaping and
climbing)
|
Achieving
body control by exploring different shapes and movements within different
contexts on different surfaces. Students create and plan movement sequences
that show variations in speed, direction, rhythm and continuity. KC3
|
Refining
movement skills through experiences of safe physical activities (eg school
and community, individual and team sport) in a wide range of activities. KC4
|
|
Through
a variety of scenarios and activities students will work together as a group
and in teams to achieve a set of outcomes. Problem solving, team work and encouragement underpin this
activity.
|
Solving
problems and exploring a ranges of movement possibilitiesin planning activities to express
themselves in creative ways, individually, with others and in teams.KC2, KC3, KC4, KC6
Applying
the language of movement in communicating ideas and information with each
other through the exploration and application of spatial concepts.
|
Working
Cooperatively with others in a range of activities and identifying the
contribution of individuals to the group?s or team?s work.Students experience being cooperative
members of groups or teams and taking different roles and responsibilities,
while encouraging and supporting others. KC4
|
Identifying
and initiating roles and responsibilities required to create and maintain
rewarding and effective relationships in team structures (eg player, coach,
umpire and administrator) in ways that cater for diverse participation
populations KC4
|
|
Team
work and trust play an important part in participating in this activity. Students learn to rely on the
equipment being used and their peers to enable their success in this
activity.
|
Receiving
and sharing the language of movement (e.g in play, games, sport, dance,
gymnastics, aquatics and outdoor adventure activities) in responding to
verbal, signed and other non-verbal directions
|
Engaging
in safe practices when performing in physical activities, including correctly
using equipment (eg hockey sticks), moving on and off equipment and
developing personal judgement in assessing the safety of situations (eg in,
on and around water) KC7
|
Understanding
the interplay between ?self? and ?self and others? in single sex and mixed
sex groupings through a range of creative and challenging activities (eg
individual and team sports, dance gymnastics, aquatic, outdoor and
recreational pursuits, and modified and adapted activities) KC4
|
|
Students
work in small groups or with a partner to navigate one of 4 courses around
the campsite.They are taught
how to use a compass and how to read a map using a legend or key.
|
Develop
mathematical ideas and skills through physical activities that involve
distance, directions, shapes, space and counting. KC5
|
Using
compass directions and latitude and longitude to describe the location of
places and features relative to each other, on large scale maps and on atlas
maps and globes. KC5
|
Analyses
maps to explain associations and interrelationships between features. KC1,
KC2
|
|
Working
as a team, planning and using set materials a group must make a raft to
support a certain number of people for a race down the river. It must be river worthy so
modifications may need to be made.
|
Works
collaboratively to create and plan movement sequences, and contribute
successfully in teams. KC3, KC4, KC6
|
Sharing
equipment and working cooperatively with others in pairs or small groups or
teams to make the transition from basic movement abilities to the specialised
movement skills associated with sports, dance, gymnastics, aquatics,
recreational pursuits and challenging outdoor activities KC4
|
Demonstrates
that they can work cooperatively in groups or in teams in the classroom and
other setting (eg outdoor education) KC4
|
|
Using
bows and arrows students will learn some of the parts of the equipment they
will be using. They will then be
instructed in how to achieve a target hit.
|
Demonstrates
and describes playing and working safely, showing awareness of appropriate
equipment, rules and consideration for themselves and others. KC2
|
Students
individually, in groups or teams enhance their self-awareness through
developing, refining and expanding their movement abilities and strategies
within an appropriate context or physical activities. KC4
|
Using
a variety of technologies appropriate for a wide diversity of capabilities,
students develop the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate their own and
other?s performances, and generate and act on strategies to enhance
performance. KC2 KC6
|
|
Through
sport students will see that physical activity can be fun.Learning rules to new sports ensures
the students come away with some new skills.
|
Plays
easily with others, joins in well as a member of a team, works
collaboratively in a range of activities (eg dancing, yard games, modified
sport, in the swimming pool) and is respectful of those with different
abilities. KC4
|
Practising
teamwork and cooperative play.Students recognise the need for rules, umpires and leaders and accept
progressively greater amounts of responsibility, which promotes self-reliance
and management of resources and caters for people with a wide range of
capabilities. KC4
|
Implementing
skills and knowledge in participating safely in physical activities and
competitive sports, including warm-up and cool-down routines. Students select
and use protective equipment and practise awareness of space and others when
performing in an increasing range of interests.
|
|
The
Wetland Program is designed in conjunction with Natural State.
|
Cooperating
with others or in teams to care for natural resources, including learning
about habitats and native flora and fauna. KC4 Children become involved in
relevant projects (eg. Landcare, Coastcare, Riverwatch, Waterwatch)
|
Students
discuss environmental, conservation or resource issues, and individually
and/or in teams collaboratively develop strategies to bring about positive
change in the local community. KC2, KC4, KC 6
|
Students
work independently, in groups, and in teams, using inquiry skills to
critically analyse and organise data on how individuals and groups make
decisions about natural and built environments. They represent their findings
through a range of oral, written, visual and electronic forms. KC1, KC2, KC4,
